ALIVE to the possibilities of a trade boom in Scotland following the General Election, the Scottish National Development Council are preparing the way with spade work and publicity.

Representatives of American firms have been in Scotland recently making investigations respecting sites for branch factories should tariffs be imposed as a result of the Election. Municipal and County authorities desirous of linking up their efforts with those of the Scottish National Development Council in the promotion of Scottish trade and industrial prosperity were represented at a conference held in Glasgow yesterday forenoon - Sir James’ Lithgow, Bart., presiding. Representatives from different centres indicated the willingness of the local authorities to co-operate in a practical way with the good work of the Development Council. The value of having one central body to co-ordinate effort and prevent overlapping was recognised.
