Airport operator BAA is to change its name after nearly 50 years. The company, formerly called British Airports Authority, will operate using the individual names of its four remaining UK airports.
In existence since 1965, the company was ordered by the Competition Commission to sell Gatwick, Stansted and either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
It had since sold Gatwick and Edinburgh and, after long legal battles, is now in the process of selling Stansted.
This leaves the Spanish-owned company with four UK airports – Aberdeen, Glasgow, Heathrow and Southampton.
