A FUEL shortage hit easyJet Airport yesterday forcing somet to make refuelling stops following an apparent “contamination” at Grangemouth refinery.
The budget airline said only two flights – to Krakow and Tenerife – were affected by the shortage and added that flights were delayed for no more than an hour by fuel stops.
A spokesman for Ineos, the company which owns Grangemouth refinery, said: “On Thursday morning we identified an issue with one of the refinery processes necessary to produce a component of jet fuel.
“We stopped production and began supplying using our contingency stocks, which lasted until Friday evening. Blending restarted on Monday morning and deliveries are now continuing.”
