WELCOME to this year’s Scotland on Sunday Eligibles. For 13 years this newspaper has been asking the public to celebrate everything that is great about single Scottish people and their success, with a little sexy twist thrown in for good measure.
Eligibles is an annual poll of which single, successful Scots get our readers’ vote, culminating in a very special issue of Spectrum magazine in which your final 50 Eligibles will be
announced and profiled in all their
finery. Over the years, many familiar faces have graced the list, from a young, footloose and fancy-free Gordon Brown and JK Rowling, to some of our sporting greats such as Monty and Murray. We’re interested in nominations from all walks of Scottish life, though, so don’t rule out local and unsung
heroes. This isn’t a beauty contest, but we want to hear about Scots who have that
elusive combination of magnetic personality and traffic-stopping sex appeal.
CRITERIA
To qualify as a Scotland on Sunday Eligible, your candidate must be:
a) Scottish by birth or fully resident in Scotland.
b) Single ie not married, engaged or in a serious relationship.
c) Successful in their chosen field.
d) Over 16 years of age.

HOW TO NOMINATE
This Sunday we officially opened the floodgates for nominations. We are looking for eligible men and women the length and breadth of the country, from community leaders in the isles to politicos and performers in the cities.
Eligibles are whoever you deem to be worthy of your vote, as long as they are single. See our glamourous panel of previous nominees (above) and give us your best suggestions as to which Scot you think deserves to be elevated on to the podium this year.
As ever, Scotland on Sunday will not only be publishing a special issue of Spectrum to celebrate the final 50 Eligibles 2012, but we will also be hosting a glitzy party to which all 100 final nominees will be invited, as well as some lucky nominators and voters like you. To nominate, send us an e-mail to spectrum_sos@scotlandonsunday.com with the subject line Eligibles 2012.
In your e-mail, tell us the name, age, occupation and contact telephone number (where possible) of your nominee, plus 100 words to explain why they are so eligible. We will then publish the top 100 nominees in our issue of Spectrum magazine on 11 November for you to let us know which Eligibles you think should make it in to our final 50 list on 25 November.
You will have one week to let us know your favourites from the nominees as the closing date will
be Friday 16 November.
