A BLOGGER whose e-mail was accessed without his consent has accepted “substantial” damages from the publisher of the Times.
Richard Horton, author of the blog known as “Nightjack – an English detective”, brought High Court proceedings for breach of confidence, misuse of private information and deceit.
His solicitor, Patrick Daulby, told Mr Justice Vos that, in May 2009, a journalist told Mr Horton that he had discovered his identity and the newspaper was about to reveal it – which led to Mr Horton seeking an injunction to retain his anonymity.
