A PENSIONER who sexually assaulted four young girls between 1949 and 1973 has been jailed for 11 years.
Former serviceman Reginald Davies, 78, was convicted of 13 offences, including the rape of a girl under the age of 12.
He abused his victims in South Wales when they were between nine and 16.
The Metropolitan Police have described the case as “the oldest charges ever to be heard in a UK court”. Davies, who served with the Royal Engineers and the Royal Dragoons, committed the offences when he was aged between 15 and 39.
His four victims held hands and sobbed as the sentence was read out at Kingston Crown Court in south-west London. The pensioner had been arrested in Australia in July last year.
