LAW at Work, the legal firm that was spun out of “big four” stalwart Maclay Murray & Spens (MMS), will today unveil a double-digit rise in profits after starting to offer health and safety advice to its clients.
Pre-tax profits at the firm – which has offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow – jumped by 13 per cent to £223,000 in the year to 31 May, on the back of a 4 per cent rise in turnover to £1.6 million.
The practice has notched up more than 250 customers throughout the UK since it was founded in 2001, including frozen food chain Farmfoods and homeware retailer Ikea.
Magnus Swanson, a former chief executive at MMS, led a management buy-out in August alongside Law at Work chief executive Jane Wright and legal services director Donald MacKinnon. Swanson is now Law at Work’s chairman and majority shareholder.
Wright said that the double-digit growth had continued into the opening quarter of the firm’s current financial year.
“We have invested in expanding our services, particularly within our growing health and safety division,” she added.
