A SENSE of direction is becoming a thing of the past for growing numbers of motorists who turn to hi-tech navigational aids for every journey however familiar, a new report showed yesterday.

The latest research from Halfords reveals that motorists now routinely rely on new technology to navigate their way, even around routes they travel regularly.

More than two-thirds of motorists (68 per cent) admit to using the sat-nav for journeys they do every day, such as commuting to work or going to the shops, while more than a third rate the device a more important
in-car feature than the radio.

More than half (52 per cent) are unable to recall any prominent landmark on a journey and almost a third (31 per cent) can’t recall the name of the road they have just travelled on, the study showed.
