THE A83 Rest and be Thankful pass in Argyll was blocked again this afternoon by a landslide which left up to 100 tonnes of debris covering the road.
The closure west of Arrochar means detours involving an extra 26 miles for traffic between Glasgow and Kintyre, with traffic diverted via Tyndrum to the north.
Roads chiefs said the incident had followed “sustained heavy rainfall”, with 50-100 tonnes of material falling from the hillside above the road.
They said the site was being assessed by geotechnical engineers but it is not known when the road will re-open.
The closure is at least the fourth this year from either landslips or a heightened risk.
