THE human resources team at CBRE has had a busy week, with a trio of appointments and a hat-trick of promotions at the property consultant.
James Lynch has joined as a senior surveyor in Edinburgh, while John McLaughlin and Katie Pirie have moved into its Glasgow office as associate director and senior surveyor respectively.
Lynch joins from rival DTZ, while McLaughlin spent the past 11 years at Stockland Developments. Pirie has moved from Colliers, where she managed a range of commercial properties across Scotland. The three join CBRE’s property and asset management team, which works with clients including Aberdeen Asset Management, Lloyds Banking Group and Royal London.
Meanwhile, the firm’s Aberdeen office has moved into its new home on St Swithin Row, where new managing director Derren McRae will oversee operations.
He is joined by Michael Armstrong, promoted to director, while Iain Landsman has become senior surveyor.
McRae said: “The new office provides an excellent working environment and allows us scope to expand the Aberdeen office with further key recruitment announcements to follow shortly.”
Duel role should mean good advice
MICHAEL Blanche will be putting his hands-on experience as a livestock farmer to good use in his new role as farm business consultant at rural property specialist Baird Lumsden.
Blanche is a chartered surveyor who also has tenancy of a 500-acre livestock farm. He has previously been a consultant with the Scottish Agricultural College and continues to run his own consultancy.
At Baird Lumsden, he will specialise in whole farm reviews, with an emphasis on formulating five- and ten-year targets for farmers.
He said: “Farmers and agricultural specialists are working in an extremely challenging environment and it is of the utmost importance that they obtain the best quality advice.”
Change of scenery for Tariq Chishti
A CHANGE is as good as a rest, so the saying goes, but Tariq Chishti will have other things on his mind after joining Change Recruitment Group from rival Hays.
Chishti has been named divisional manager for Glasgow, where he will lead Change’s accountancy and finance and sales and marketing divisions.
Mark McFall, the firm’s domestic managing director, said: “It is a major coup for us to get Tariq on board. He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Scottish market.
“Despite the current economic conditions there are plenty of opportunities for candidates and Tariq will be actively involved in growing our client base in the west of Scotland.”
