A SHOPKEEPER was robbed of more than £20,000 at gunpoint after thieves followed him and crashed into his van in an early-morning raid.
The terrified man was rammed by a Ford Transit in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, a short time after he left his store in nearby Hamilton.
But after he got out of his white Volkswagen van to speak to the driver he was approached by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
The gunman ordered the 31-year-old victim to open his van before his accomplice grabbed the cash haul from the vehicle at 8:10am on Monday.
No shots were fired. The suspects sped off from the incident and were last seen heading in the direction of Uddingston. The victim was unhurt but was left badly shaken.
Both suspects are described as being of Pakistani or Indian descent.
Detective Sergeant Julie Mullen, of Strathclyde Police, said she believes the victim was deliberately targeted by the raiders and appealed for witnesses.
She added: “I would like to reassure the public that we believe this was a targeted robbery.”
