CITY MP Mike Crockart has begun a final push in his bid to find 100 jobs or training opportunities for young people in 100 days.
He said he had secured 55 offers from Capital businesses and organisations since launching his effort at Murrayfield in May, with others in the pipeline.
And with a fortnight to go before the deadline, the Edinburgh West Liberal Democrat MP appealed for more employers to come forward.
“The response from businesses, both large and small, has been very positive,” he said. Among those who have agreed to take on young people are NHS Lothian, which has offered two Modern Apprenticeships and ten places under the Edinburgh Guarantee, and the Spire hospital in Murrayfield, which is taking on ten.
Mr Crockart said with many young people getting their Higher results in the past two weeks, the availability of jobs and training opportunities was even more important.
He said: “We are over the half way mark with places offered and we need a final push to get us up to 100.
“We just need a few bigger companies or organisations coming forward with several places and we can do it.”
